Hey I was wondering if any of you guys know how to make it so that every five minutes, my jet ski's spark plug fouls. Any ideas to help fix it?

a guy i work with has a 2000 seadoo gs that he told me i could have for $500 with trailer. it has been garage kept with cover its entire life and looks great. he said that it has been sitting for a couple years. he said every year when he would get it out the first time he would have to tap the starter solenoid to get it to start. but then the last time it didn't work, so he crossed over the solenoid and it will crank, so that tells me it needs a new solenoid, but it will crank and not start. i am really good with carburetors so if they need cleaned and adjusted i can do that myself. i have read other people say if your battery is not 100% it will crank great but will not get spark to start so if i buy it im going to buy a new battery and solenoid first and try that. Anything else i need to check out for these problems? i have heard people talk about the mpem and stuff so i just want to see what other people think.

btw i have saw all of the negativity towards the 2 stroke skis on here but this one is cheap and i am a mechanic. i feel like i can fix the issue pretty easily i just want to see if there is something im not seeing with this problem. if you are going to tell me to just go buy a new 12,000 sc ski, or even a 4,000 used 4 stroke then save your breath. i already have a baja with a sbc so i have an expensive toy, just looking for something to put on that doesnt burn as much fuel as the boat

Does anyone have the factoty settings on a Mikuni BN 38mm carbon and how to adjust it? Picked up this ski last weekend and have isolated the fuel problem to the carb . Took it apart and cleaned it and all looks good. Messed up adjustments when I tore it down. Could get it to crank a few times but will not continue to run at idle.

I recently bought a 1995 seadoo gtx. I have had do some work to it but now i have a new issue. I replaced solonoid, new battery, and used oem starter. Went to the lake today everything was goin fine until about 10 minutes in. The ski died, took off the seat and the negative side of battert was melted off and i dont know why other than bad ground cable. I dont know what gauge or awg battery cables to buy. Can someone help me out?

I have a 97 Yamaha GP760 that we just put a new battery on this year. It starts great, but then a Low voltage light comes on.. All connections are tight.. Can someone please tell me where to look next??

I purchased a 94 jetboat and had a strange problem. It would start and run fine but only on random occassions. SOooo - I purchased a new switch box and voltage regulator and installed both. The engine started on the first crank and ran fine. Move ahead to the next day. Again the phantom appears - cranks fine - unable to start again. I'm sure if I wait another day or two it will start again. Any suggestions appreciated.

I left my jetski in my back yard (in Hayward CA) for about 4-5 years without running, doing anything to it. I'm not sure if I winterized it either, too long back to remember if I knew anything back then.

It's a 2006 Yamaha 50 years anniversary cruiser model.

Now I want to prep it for this summer. Should I try starting it? Or is there anything I should do/check before doing so. I bought it brand new and never had any problem back then.

I know I should have done this and done that back then. But let's focus on the present, not the past. :D

I have a 1995 Sport Jet 120 Serial #OE133992

I have spark on all 4 cylinders but only for a few seconds while cranking. If I cycle the Key switch off and on again the spark comes back again but goes away. It will continue to repeat this pattern every time.

Any Suggestions?

I a 1988 yamaha waverunner, I get mine to run as long as I play with the choke and throttle at low speeds around idle speed but once I go faster i keep the choke turned off and as long as I stay full throttle I do t need to play with the choke and she runs fun until I slow back done them I have to play with the choke again. I redone the carb.

Ok my problem is my ski won't start . I have a 2000 sea doo gs and every time I attemp to start this ski up it only turns over but doesn't start. I know it will start because about 3 weeks ago I kept trying to start it and then it finally started up after about 30 mins of trying. So I took it out to the lake and once it was in water I started it but then it would die after giving it gas . The only way it would start was by holding up the choke and when it did start it was hard to keep it on. It ran good a couple of times giving it gas then it would die again . So here I am again trying to get this ski running right without going though all that trouble . Below is a list of things I have done to try and fix it.
Also at the end of the plugs I see there is oil on them . I pulled the plugs out and then turned it over to see if oil would shoot out but nothing came out and compression checks out ok too. I also mixed some 2 cycle oil with gas then poured it and it started up right away then die after it burned it up.

Cleaned fuel switch
Cleaned out carbs
Changed grey lines
New fuel filter
New battery
New plugs

I'm all out of ideas so hope someone here can help ..... Thanks

I have a regal rush xr2 with a mercury 175 sport jet. There is a significant water leak between the pump/hull/engine. Do I need a new rubber grommet? Do they make a gasket? Or do I just lift the engine and silicone the crap out of it.

How much time/effort goes into this project, am I better off hiring someone to do it for me?

i picked up two of these skis a couple years ago pretty cheap. i just bought carb rebuild kits for them bc one will idle perfect, but fall on its face when you hit the throttle and die unless you give it a pump of fuel with the primer, and the other smokes like a "B" when idling with oil coming out the pipe. im looking for the carb needle settings for these skis. these are the OLD style carbs with the round diaphragm and casing on the side.

also if anyone has a pdf of the yamaha shop manual i would REALLY appreciate a link or it being emailed to me.

I found a 2001 Sea-Doo XP 951CC in a fairly good condition with 99hrs. The only problem the seller tells me that he will not give me a test drive even with cash in the hand. He can only start it on the hose... Is there anyway to test it other than a testdrive? Or should I stay away?

Hello all, i'm a outboard tech that had a customer insist on bringing me a 2005 SeaDoo GTI RFI with a 800CC Rotax engine, oil injected 2-stroke., even though I told him im not all that versed in Skis,. Obviously I want to find his problem so here it is. I took it out to have it to replicate his issue and whats happening is youll hit the gas and itll fly....good power and starts like a champ. After a few minutes is stalls out to about 5 MPH. You can shut it off and start it again and itll scream...then fall on it's face again at 5 MPH. It never sputters or spits, just backs down. It sounds like its going into some sort of Limp mode or fail safe. Am I right to assume this? and what should I check to help diagnose his issue. No alarms are coming on or warning lights. Can an average garage mechanic replace 'stuck' trim cables or is this best left to a dealer?
