Mercruiser 3.0' 135 carb,alpha one. M080465. Stingray,2001, 180sl. Purchased 2001.
Seems I shorted something out while replacing battery. Previous battery needed replacing, but after jumping it, engine started and ignition, gauges, lights worked. After replacing battery, trim works, but not ignition, gauges or lights.
All main fuses under dash seem to be good. Can anybody help me find other fuses or identify other possible problems?
And btw, I did push the red circuit breaker 50 button and didn't notice any change.

Hello all
I recently bought a 2000 Maxim 2100sr,the boat is in great shape minus the scratch I put in it docking.
I was cleaning the hull for the first time and noticed that the gel coat seems to be worn off in a triangle shape at the aft just in front of the transom. The normal white color is worn to an almost red primer color.
Any ideas on the cause, and of course the proper way to refinish this.a side note the boat does not leak any water inside even after a week in the marina
Any and all thoughts appreciated and welcome

I recently picked up a 1985 Rinker runabout with a Johnson 70 hp outboard for almost nothing. This is my first venture into working on boats and I'm stuck. I have removed all the bolts holding the lower unit on and I can only get it to come down about 4 inches. It's down far enough that if I turn the fly wheel the propeller shaft does not spin. I've pulled, wiggled, even pried with a screwdriver. Can anyone give me some tips or where to go next to get this off?

Thanks

Last year I installed an oil/water separator. When I tried to start the engine, it would not start. When I removed the gas line to the separator and hooked it directly to the bulb, Walla, it started. Later when I had the boat in the shop for an unrelated repair, I mentioned the problem to the mechanic. He said that I had to prime the oil/water separator which he did later, but didn't tell me how to do it. Now I'm ready to take the boat out and still don't know Jack about the priming part. Heeeeeeelp!!!!!!!!!.

First post but ive been reading quite a bit here to learn as much as i can, but i cant figure this one out.

I have a 71 Johnson 25 hp. It pumps water intermittently. Sometimes it runs just fine. Turn it off and restart later and nothing-no water flow.

I changed the impeller last year with the same results. I think that I have followed all the basic topics related to this issue. The key looks good, took out the thermostat, blown the passages with compressed air from top to bottom to make sure they were clear. Screen looks clean and clear. It is sitting in a water tank filled well above the cav plate.

The only issue i noticed was that the impeller plate has slight circular grooving in it but its barely enough to feel with a fingernail. As i said though when it pumps it pumps nice and strong. Its like someone flips an on and off switch.

Any suggestions?

Thanks..

Hey guys,

I have a 1962 Evinrude selectric (electric shift) motor, 40 H.P model 35933. I did some extensive lower unit work last fall and happy to say the motor is running great! I have been out several times now, and I've checked the lower unit gear oil a few times just to make sure things are right with it. Today I drained the oil out to replace it with some fresh new oil. For no real reason except to just replace the old lube with new lube and check for metal shavings in the old stuff.

I filled the gear case as I should have, through the drain hole until I saw the new oil come out of the oil level hole above the drain hole. It came out, but my question is this. What is the listed lower gear case capacity for the oil? It took only 12 oz. to fill it completely and that does not seem like enough oil to me, but like I said, it came out of the top hole as I pumped new oil in SLOWLY. Wondering if the gear case is full or not??? Thanks for any replies!

I have a 1978 2 hp evinrude that im trying to get running. Currently there is no spark. I have obtained a manual and inspected everything as it has said they points all look good. The only problem i can find is maybe a bad connection at the spark plug boot, and the coil has a really rusted ground. Questions: would a rust ground for the coil cause no spark and ruin the coil? I dont have an ignition analyzer but i do have a multimeter can i just test the resistance of the coil? Any help would be much appreciated, i have an ignition tune up kit on its way just because they are cheap and probably wouldnt hurt.

Thanks

Need help with 1994 Evinrude 90hp outboard no spark.
The engine was missing & stalling on idle (rebuild the carburetors). Adjust & sync linkage. Need it to adjust idle (no tach) got a new tach. The tach doesn’t work. Got a new rectifier/regulator. The motor turns & turns but no fire. I let it seat overnight & try the next day, start on the first turn, run idle like a champ for about 15 min. the tach was working, turn it off, got some fresh gas with seafoam and run it for about 15 more min. so far so good. Turn it off and let it seat for about 20 min. (to let the seafoam do the job, decarb ). Try to start, turn & turn but no fire; it did start once and the # 3 cylinder was dead, and won’t idle. I have previously change coils without luck. I got a new power pack. Turns & turn but won’t start (try stating fluid, nothing,. It has new plugs & wires, new coils, removed vro and install a new fuel pump new fuel lines, a fully charge new battery. I don’t know where else to look. Can someone help me troubleshoot this issue? Thanks

I've got a 1984 90 Johnson. It starts fine and runs great with the warm up leaver up. It almost always stalls or has no power when you put it in forward. If you can get it running at full speed it runs pretty good. Wondering where to start looking for problems. I had a shop look at it and they said that 1 cylinder has low compression (90lbs) and the whole engine needs re-built. Not sure, seems to me this is more likely a carburetor problem then a compression problem. I think they may have stopped looking for the real problem when they found the cylinder with low compression. Also is 90lbs really all that low, not sure what it should have.
Any idea where I should start?
