Default Yamaha Tach reading wrong - More info

I have a 2008 Yamaha 70 hp 2 stroke with a digital tach. It reads 300 at idle and around 2000 at WOT going 30 mph. I know there's some kind of settings on the back to correct this. Can someone help? Thanks!

The tach should have a dial on the back and it should be set to 6P (6 pulse).

Would that apply to the multi-function digital tach? Sorry to question but I just wanted to make sure before I get under that console. It looks like the attached pic. I tried unsuccessfully to find speciific info on the web. This tach came as original equipment on my 2008 Key West.

I took the rubber plug off the back of the tach. There's 3 dip switches. #1 is up, the others are down. Can someone please help with the correct settings?

    Thanks,

Did your dealer give you the rigging manual that came with your engine? Ask for it, a great reference. Info should be there. I've never seen it in the my Yamaha shop manual. I'll check what mine says but it's at the cottage, get back to you next week. Hope you solve the problem before then. Can't the dealer help, warranty and all?

I have a call in to the dealer. They didn't have the info. I am supposed to call them again today. Incredibly, so far I haven't been able to find any manuals for the tach on the internet. Yamaha's web site doesn't have anything on it.

    Thanks,
    KWB

This should do it for you. Switch 3 should be down for 2 stroke.

    BaileysBoat,

Thank you VERY MUCH! According to the manual my switch should be set as:

    1 - UP/ON (2001 or newer)
    2 - UP/ON (2 Stroke 40-70 hp, 6 pole)
    3 - DN/OFF (2 Stroke)

My tach is incorerctly set for UP/DN/DN.

    Thanks again,
    KWB
