I am installing a tach in a 2005 smoker with a 2005 mercury 90 HP 2 stroke engine. I found a four terminel female harness plug under the instrument panel that has the correct wires, gray, purple, and black. I am trying to find a male endplug with wire.jpgfemale plug.jpg harness to plug into the existing connector for wiring a teleflex tach. I could hard wire it but would rather make it plug and play. Where can I get the harness adapter I need?
You don't need an adapter and there very likely isn't one unless you make it. If the harness you have in your hand is hard wired at the tach (e.g., not removable) Cut off the plug and add bullet connectors that match those under the console. Bullet connectors are available at auto stores, Lowes, Home Depot, and nearly any hardware or electronic supply store such as Radio Shack.
You may be able to use male bullet connectors to plug directly into it.

Not in that connector he can't. He can use separate male pin type connectors which are available at Radio Shack. However, that leaves the connections with no "locking feature" so they would tend to come loose. You can also use male/femal Molex connector similar to the one shown. Attach one half othe connector to the tack harness (remove the existing connector) and add the mating half to the boat side harness.
