How important is it to have a dual beam over a single beam on a fishfinder?

Depends on how deep of water you fish and how much detail of the bottom you want to see. Poeple say you don';t need a dual until you fish deep water but I find it very useful when bottom fishing in even 30' of water.

I guess the question I would ask is why not?
