    Default LED Lights

Has anyone added LED lights totheri boat? I am thinking about adding some to 5 different storage areas as well as a coule for my engine compartment.

If you have added them, what kind did you add? I have seen some that look to be direct wire in but cannot tell if they have a voltage regulator in them. I know LEDs are sensitive to voltage...

you're right they do need to be set up for a 12V system -- not that hard to do yourself, plenty of how-to info on the web, but you won't save much money if any.

check out some of the 12V-ready LED assemblies on this site:

I have added LED's for accent lighting and they have worked well. I got them off ebay from a guy who sells motorcycle leds.

You will want to buy them with a resistor already attached. The ones I got had 6" leads on them, just drill a hole, shove in, and wire em up. I really like them and they were super easy to install.

I got these from West marine and they are a "wire to wire" connection. I put these under my top rails where my rod holders and and they are excellent! I have accent lighting under the rails, along the foot area in my cockpit area and up front as well. They work so go, and since they are potted, they are basically waterproof and I put them on hte bottom of my boat so I can see into the water at night when I bully net for lobster!

You can see al their lights here....
