I bought a 1964 Evinrude 40HP twin.
I had to disconnect all the wiring from the dash and the junction box..
I di not disconnect anything from the motor.
Can anyone post how to reconnect the engine side to the "box" and from the box to the dash.
I am at a loss on all things electric.
I am concentrating on getting the engine to start (electric w/generator/alternator).
Hopefully some one can shed some light on this.
PS the forums are really helpful.
Thanks,

In the Evinrude service manual 1st Ed Vol 2. it has a wiring diagram. I just bought the book today used at a boat store. I have a #40453S, my motor is not getting any spark. The book says the coil and points should be checked. MarineEngine.com is a good place to search for info. I had to find out online the year of my motor to search for parts. Another good place for parts was ********** My motor also came with the opt. Generator kit, but is missing the pulley, nut, washer, and belt. I found all the parts online in Florida, but they want to much money. I was going to run it without the gen. and just recharge the battery after running it for the day.
did anyone ever get this figured out? I just bought a big twin 40. The boat has nothing since it is a rebuild. I have a pile of cables and wires. Everything is supposed to be there except the ignition switch.
Not ready to start but will need to have a idea what else I will need.
