    Default Trouble with Neighbours.

Some may recall a while back one of our members had a long running battle (over years) with his City Council, incurring fines, endless correspondance etc.

We have a neighbour who maybe 14 months back put a complete wreck of a rusty trailer outside his fence (grass verge) with a $600 for sale sign on it. This is an absolute wreck. After 6 months the price got down to $200.

The other day I got sick of this heap of junk, so took a picture and made a complaint to our City Council. Are they on the ball. They keep in touch with me. He has not been asked, but told to remove it, and hasn't. They have now issued him with a fine (the verge outside your property is not your - it is councils - but you are obliged to maintain it.)

So looks as though we are in for something similar to the OP situation.

We (neighbours) reckon he wants it pinched so he can claim the insurance.
The sooner it goes, the better the neibourhood will be for all.

    Cheers
    Phillip

Probably cheaper to pay him a hundred bucks to take it to the dump.

Great news, trailer is finally gone today.(Sunday).
I do know he got the fine in Fridays mail, so will be interesting to hear what the Council Ranger tells me when she calls.
The best thing about it is - it is gone and the neighbourhood looks better.

I would hope any of my neighbors that don't like something on my property would have the decency to come and talk to me before calling the city about it.

This wasn't on his property. It was outside his front fence, (grass verge, Council land).
No one can complain as to what he does inside his fence. (unless it is illegal).

Our Council have Rangers and they advise us to always go thru them.

that has almost always backfired for me, regardless of how diplomatic and friendly. Some people love drama and love having enemies to refocus their day to day frustration with their lot in life.

keeping it anonymous makes "the city" their enemy.

If it was sitting on "public land" you have very little choice but to call in the authorities.

Of course they do. How else are they going to get more opportunities to fine people. I understand your not wanting to have enemies on your street and I don't know what your relationship was with this guy, but I still stand by what I said. I have a good relationship with all of my neighbors and if one of them went to the city before knocking on the door, I'd be pretty disappointed.

Problem is, I have a nice talk to the neighbor about moving his stuff but he wont because x or y reason... Now options are to suck it up or go and complaint... If I complaint who do you think the neighbor is going to think that contacted the city? I and now I have a problem in my hand with the person that lives next to my property, house, boats, motorcycles, kids, car... Even worst, I decide to just let it go and someone else contacts the city and then I get blamed anyway. No sir, call the city, they will warn him before a fine. If he would have not done it for the city he would have not dont it for anyone....
