Volvo Penta MS3 Gearbox problem

I have an issue with my Volvo Penta MS3 Gearbox, works fine in forward but has no power in reverse.
Presume the cone clutch has worn out, any ideas, is this a fair assumption?
I don't seem to be able to find a repair manual for the MS3 (I think it is a C, year of manufacture 1980) can you suggest where I may find one.

Usually with a worn cone clutch, you would slip for a while before it would stop completely.
Time to take it apart and have a look.

Don, the drive is turning in reverse but when I increase the revs there is no increase in power at the prop. Works fine in forward.

I will remove the box and have a look, then I need to find the replacement parts!

Don, I removed and stripped the gearbox and found that the lower wear washer 852433 on the reverse gear shaft was completely worn out. It would appear that this item was incorrectly fitted at the last overhaul, went in on an angle so it was not seated correctly on the steel washer and prematurely failed. I made and fitted a new wear washer and the gearbox is back in the boat and working OK.
