I live in Florida now and planning a trip to the Bahama Islands for this summer. When I was a kid and don't know the logistics of your areas we used to stay in Potters cove at Prudence Island. We all had a great time.Clam all day and Clam bakes right on the beach at night. Good memories
Still learnin

It is a shallow pond 10 - 15 feet. You could look at a chart on www.massgov and look at long pond in lakeville / freetown. No sandbars that I know of, but there is town beach on the freetown side and a day camp, cathedral camp , that is sometimes rented out for day events. I usually go there almost every weekend to fish or tube with the kids in the summer and I havent had a problem yet without a depth finder. I just recently purchased one so I will have one this year. This is a popular tubing, water ski and fishing spot.
The cove was good and gives a consistent target to shoot for, as alternates I'll suggest Webster lake on the Ma-Ct-Ri border..or the Bassett island party last saturday in july (band on a barge in pocassett harbor) buzzards bay.
Smallboatlover- what's keeping you out of the fresh water?? Peter
Hi Everyone.
Its been a long winter but my boat is 85% ready to go. We are so looking forward to boating season.
I have given this a little bit of thought I am thinking that Narragansett Bay would be great for a few reasons.
1. It is centrally located and people can launch from almost anywhere in RI. If you were coming up from Ct you could launch in N.Kingstown RI.
West Warwick if coming from Worchester area south on 146.
Fall River if coming down 24 or off the Cape.
2. The water is protected so smaller boats can go and have fun without the admiral needing a sports bra.. oops i mean sports bikini.
There is a nice cove in Prudence island. Its on the east side of the island. There is no sandy beach. A beach of small rocks.
Long pond is nice as well. You really need to be careful where you go because Rocks are every where. Launching is difficult with a large boat because the ramp isn't deep enough. No Dock. But Long is nice and warm.. and fresh.
Of course I like Narragansett Bay since it's close by but it really is very convenient for many due to it being right off of Rt. 95 and 195. I can provide a bunch of boat ramp locations for those who are unfamiliar with the bay or if everyone wants to meet at a particular ramp, we can do that too. We could "sandbar" on Patience Island which is a little island just West of Prudence Island. You can put your boat right up onto the beach...no rocks to mess you up. My avatar is a picture of my son on Patience Island with our old 18 foot boat in the background.

i don't go in fresh water with my boat i don't like worrying about all the rocks in the ponds and i prefer salt water i know about saltwater more than fresh
First post here, but I live in N. Grosvenordale, CT 10 min from the MA boarder.
If your looking for a central body of water 322 acres with avg depths of 20ft (40 at the deepest) and 10ft just 10ft off shore................ Splits MA and RI. concrete 4 boat launch, beach, bathrooms, grill cooktops on shore, parking for about 30 trailers.................
Got you curious??

Wallum lake!
located in Douglas MA, 15 min from the Webster exit. 5$ entrance donation.
SMALLBOATLOVER- I know how you feel! So many of the lakes around me are shallow. I'm. Use to taking it slow untill I map out my running course.
Lakes are fine but we need to make sure we have good charts of the lake for all of us. I have alot of the electronic maps in my chart plotter but i need a paper chart as well.
I also need to have a pretty deep ramp. I have a 40" draft. A lot of lakes mid summer dont give me enough to even get off the trailer and not even close to let me get back on.
This is the Douglas state forest site map from mass.gov

The chart link

I did forgot that the deepest is greater than 40ft...much deeper.
Ct river I've done before, Islands, currents.... launch was in Gill if I remember right. It has other launches in Chicopee, Hatfield and Northfield. food for thoughts

Is there a chat of that pond that shows all the rocks? I am spinning 1700.00 worth of props. It looks nice but small. Any of the beaches can you pull the boat up to?
ya i don't feel like spending more money on getting a new prop this year. i can't afford spending $150 on a prop every year. and my boat does have tilt or trim so it either down or up
Last year was My first year with a boat. Centurion falcon barefoot, My High Five hasn't seen a hit (with me yet!)
I don't have a chart with rocks as they are within 10 ft of shore.
The public beach has eye hooks to moore the boat to. Right of the launch is a sand landing, fits maybe 4 boats.
DEP is there on one weekend day, but I have yet to see him in a boat. He'll ticket you for the norm. too many people, no jackets, noise too loud...etc

Wallum is way too small. I've been there many times over the years. It gets way too crowded on weekends. There's also no place to "sandbar" at Wallum except for that spot to the right of the beach where boats can hook up to the wall but those spots are usually taken by 10:00 AM on a weekend. If not Narragansett Bay, how about Lake Quinsigamond which is in Shrewsbury and Worcester? The boat ramp was completely redone by the State with nice courtesy docks, etc. It will also accomondate Black Snow Slide's 41 inch draft boat. The 722 acre lake is 4.5 miles long with multiple islands. One particular island has two tire swings on it. You can pull your boat up to the island, walk around, jump in the water, etc. There's also a great restaurant where you can dock and dine. Here's the web site: http://www.bucadibeppo.com/locations...?location=2112 I have a chart of the lake somewhere. I just have to find it. I know the lake and it's pretty much rock-free which is nice. There's one rocky area and it has hazard buoys marking it. Lastly, the boat ramp is right off of Rt. 290 which is easy to get to from Rt. 495, 146, 190, Mass. Pike, etc. Here's info on the lake: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Quinsigamond
