wiring Diagram for 86 Renken with 4.3 OMC Motor (Gauge Cluster)
Hi Guys.
Looking for a wiring diagram for my 86 Renken with OMC 4.3L inboard.
The gauge cluster is a mess and the ignnition switch needs replacing. I've got the boat running... I think the neutral switch was the problem. It was just stuck and dirty. Fixed that and now it wil run.
THe starter solenoid is bad but I've got a new one on the way.
In the mean time, there is a short in the instrument panel that I'm trying to race and my god is it a mess under there. It's been hacked up and "repaired" several times by previous owners and I just want to re-wire the whole thing.
So I haven't decided whether or not to just re-wire the existing gauges or get new ones.
Only problem is I started dis-connecting wires before I actually knew what I was doing
The actual harness is in really good shape but I don't know what colrs are what sender wires. That's the only real issue is what wire colors are what sender wires for the gaugues.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I tried searching but haven't found too much info on Renken boats.

Sorry to say but you won't find one, I build new boats and we don't have wiring diagrams for any of them.
Boats aren't like cars to where Pontiac will build 400,000 G6 cars but Renken made maybe 100-200 of your boat model, it just isn't cost effective to have a manual like a car has.
Can't say for sure but the engine should have its own wire harness(I'm an OB guy) which is OMC so you should be able to get a manual that will tell you those wire colors but with the boat itself those harnesses are almost always farmed out and I don't believe there is a set color reference.

Hi,
I am new to this forum so I hope it is OK to do this
There is a book on google books for boat wiring, Albeit might not relate to your make and model

Go to the electrical forum. At the very top of the forum is a sticky with a "Generic Wiring Diagram". Gauges are very universal and therefore the wiring is too. Your wire colors will not match the diagram but the use of a multitester ($10 at Home Depot) will help you.
