Speedometer tubing question

While completely redoing the interior on my boat I noticed the factory pitot tubing was coiled and tied up.It seemed to me there is a lot of exess tubing here.Is there a reason for this or is it just what they may have done when building the boat.? Also would this extra tube give me an inaccurate reading at the speedo? I'm installing all new gauges and can easily shorten the tube.There is about 8 feet of exess as it is now.Just wanted some opinions on this and THANKS!

i personally would shorten it. no it will not give inaccurate reading, it works on air pressure. the higher the speed, the less accurate those are.
