I've been reading the different threads about Smart Tabs. I am very interested in purchasing these for my boat, but I can't seem to figure out where they go on my particular boat. I have a 2006 Tahoe Q4 S/F. The space under the rear swim platform doesn't seem large enough for the Tabs and it appears they may interfer with the trailer.
If someone has purchased these for this kind of boat, please post pictures or information about where you mounted your's.
Thanks for the help.
I dont know specifically what a smart tab is but i would assume its similar to a trim tab or maybe something to do with an outboard...so with that being said maybe my post will get all the old salts interested in answering your question and let them correct me.
if a planing issue or trim on a 18ft hull wouldn't you be better served with something like at stingray fin?
I just ordered them for my Q4 sport. I found a pic on the web of another Q4 that had them installed. I ll post the pic if I can find it. Ill post the link as well. From what Ive seen you will have to move the transom tie down location as the factory one will be in the way. The tabs themselves will not be as far out as with most hull designs but will still acheive the same benefits. I'll post pics as soon as mine come in and I get them installed.
I just saw the picture of the smart tab installed on the Tahoe Q series boat. I have a 2006 Q4 and I have seen some install photos on the iboats forum with the tab further out on the bubbled area of the transom but according to the Nauticus website you are not to install the acuators on different surfaces. Now that you have had the tabs on for a season, what are your thoughts on the tabs with them installed more toward the center?
Any updates on this? I have a Q4 also and have an email in to Nautilus about any suggestions on mounting them out further. I have seen them mounted closer to the center and they seem to work good going that route also.
