    Default pedestal seat questions

Do they make a pedestal that is sturdy enough to sit in while boat is moving along at a decent speed?

I'd like to have the front passenger seat a fishing position, with a fairly high pedestal, but also be able to have a passenger sit there while we are cruising out.

Do they make one that adjusts, and in the lower position, would be safe to sit in while bouncing around a bit?

Never bought a pedestal seat, so any comments on brands and models would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Dan L

Bet you can find what you need right here on iboats, but I can't say for sure what your options are, and neither can anyone else, unless we have more info. Can you add some pics of your setup?
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
21' Suntracker(for my girls), 16' Polarkraft MV w/ 25 HP Merc(for me), 14' Odyssey bucket raft, Square stern Ouachita canoe (finally confessed to the admiral) Cute little 2.5 Merc, 16' Purple Mad River Explorer; vice-admiral's boat, but she lets me use it as long as I don't forget it's hers. Blue Hole Sunburst; a piece of history (or a piece of something else if you ask the admiral)

I would not suggest anyone sitting in a front pedestal seat while a boat is underway especially if its a bass boat setup. The seat is a big enough blind spot without someone sitting in it. Have them sit on the through cushion on the floor if you have to.

I have been looking into pedistal seats, there are a ton.

If you do your research, of the pin type systems you can pull the swivel seat base out of the post, pull the post out of the hole, and then slide the seat base directly into the mounting hole in the deck, removing the post, and sitting comfortably on the floor.

I am putting a deck in the front of my tri hull thats about 10" below the top of the boat, and am looking at these types of seating solutions so when we are at play, and we need weight in the front, someone can sit up there safely and relatively comfortably.

Then again, I might just make a seat cushion for them on the floor too, could be cheaper.

I'm not looking to have someone sit in the front pedestal, I'm looking to have the passenger seat, next to the driver, be convertible from a seat you can sit in while underway, to a pedestal fishing seat.

    thanks,

Nobody really answered your question. Pretty simple question to be honest and I am looking for something similar.

Bases mounted at driver and passenger position. Then one on th front deck and back deck to fish out of. My Idea is to save space in a fishing boat so that the front and rear seats can be removed and placed in bases for driver and passenger. Only need to haul two seats in the boat. Nobody will be riding on front or back deck while moving just need the bases to all be the same to be able to use for fishing and the driver and passenger seat.

Please let me know if you find something on this or if you already have.

I don't know if I'm totally missing something here but I don't see what the problem is. Most aluminum fishing boats, mine included, have nothing but pedestal seats. The posts are about 2 1/2 inches in diameter and they slide into a base on the floor.

And yes -- there are height adjustable pedestals. Go to an Alumacraft dealer and look at any of their fishing boats.
