Default Ladder For transom with short freeboard

Hi all I've been racking my brain and patience trying to find a ladder for my 23 foot 88' Donzi Fish. As I am often alone in the boat it has to be a permanent ladder not a removable dive ladder or hook ladder.

Here are the problems I'm facing:

    1. I have a very short transom 11.5 inches of space (12.5 if you count the boot stripe.

    2. I cant do an over the transom mount because of 2 storage compartments that are located there that probably cant take the load on their lids.

    3. My wife is pregnant and needs at least 2 steps below the water line.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks!

    Michael

I have a fishing boat that I take my family out swimming on and in the summer it gets really hot and my buddy and I like to jump in but he lost his leg below the knee so he had a heck of a time getting up the motor so I rigged a ladder up.

It is one of the below deck telescopic ones and I just used the ladder part and pitched the rest.

I drilled 2 holes in it,one big one little then joined them to make a keyhole and put 2 large headed stainless screws in the deck, it goes on and off in seconds and now I have a ladder.

Takes a little engineering and I am not sure how it would tranfer to a glass boat, mine is aluminum with carpet, but it can be done.

You could install this as intended below the hull but you would have to cut a large hole, about 12x16 to get it in.

The Garelick on is the one I keep coming back to but even though it mounts in 7'' it still needs 15'' of space when stowed 17'' for the 3 rung.

why can't you use the hook type?
where you just move the whole ladder?

I am using a rope ladder now, i has a plastic cleat you mount to the gunwhale, and the rope goes into this special cleat, and there is a step about a foot below the waterline. And you can fold it up and store it in a really small place.

    this is what i have:

This has more steps than the one i have

    26 ft grampain sailboat

Actually it looks like it folds up to stow so you'd have only about 7" down from the mount point. When folded out and in use, it's a full 15" for the 2 rung and 25" for the 3. It almost looks like the dimensions listed in the specs may have been mistyped. Why not call Garelick or iboats and ask?
