Default Bayliner Capri 1950 full length swim platform?

Anyone know if you can fit a full platform on a Capri, 1985 vintage? I can find suitable teak platforms used but the Capri has a slight angled V shape to the transom where you would have to mount it. How would I accommodate that shape? I am sure other boats have done this, but nobody at my marina has done it. Thanks.

Those pics are very helpful for the molded plastic type platform. I can tell from them just where it should be mounted. But I can get a teak wood platform with all hardware relatively cheaply and I am wondering if I can adapt the hardware to make it fit the Bayliner transom. The platform brackets will make it stand somewhat away from the transom anyway and I am wondering if anyone has done that and how it worked out. There will be a space between the transom and the teak platform but I don't think that will be a problem. I am just a little leery of buying it without seeing how someone has done it before.

Never really seen a need for anything bigger than the stock one, but the option is out there.

My Glastron has a built into the hull SP about 2ft. Added my aftermark $1,300 gives me 5ft of swim platform fun. Well worth it.

swimplatform1.jpgHere is a picture of something like what I am talking about. the issue is that V shape to the transom. The platforms I have been seeing are straight across at the transom, so how would I modify it? Joe

If you have the wood - go to Home Depot and buy a True Angle - it is like 15 bucks. You can place it on the V of the back and it will give you the angle - transfer that angle to your wood platform..(centered)..then you can cut your wood at that angle.

These guys seem to have a pretty good way of measuring for their custom platforms

swimplatform2.jpgThat TrueAngle tool might be a good way to transfer the angle although the one I am looking at is not a solid piece like the first picture is as it has the more traditional look of the slats. Here is a pic of the one I am thinking about getting if all the dimensions fit my boat correctly. Two ss brackets and the single step ladder are included.

Well it looks like you may have to sacrifice a few extra inches with the slats in it, but the true angle is going to be your only real option as I see it, dont scare your self, this looks to me like a fairly easy/straight forward modification that probably wont take a half hour to complete. And I imagine youll be hapoy with it, remember though measure twice cut once. You can also go to youtube for some videos of cutting teak decking if that would help build your confidence...

Thanks for that piece of advice. I didn't get this particular one on craigslist but I am sure another one will come up. It may be an end of the season/off season project for me.
