I am looking at buying a 1988 Bayliner Trophy, not sure of the exact model yet. It has a 200hp Mercury outboard. The boat looks to be in good shape.
Any advice on this model?
I am glad to hear that the boat turned out to be everything that you had hoped. What it comes down to it, that is all we want right?
What ever it is...if your getting friend, family, or self time away from the office on the water....what ever the flotation device....it cant be half bad!

Are you looking at the center console or the walk around cuddy?
Both are great, depending what you're looking to do.
Have a qualified mechanic give it the once over prior to paying for it. If the boat is good, the owner won't mind at all. Have the annual maintenance done FAITHFULLY. Some people don't think impellers fail after a year, but I find it's cheap insurance. Every spring, without fail, I get new plugs, lower unit lube change, impeller, prop shaft seal, fuel filter, and compression check. It may be coincidence, but I have NEVER had a mechanical failure of any boat I've owned.
