I don't have a full schematic.. but I have some stuff from motors related to yours.. 68-72 85-100hp motors.. all shared alot of parts, the electrical system in all of them is pretty similiar.I might have what you want, if you let me know, I'll have a look.rgdsfrank

any thing would help. I found a tan wire loose in the speed control and i wanted to check the wires on the motor but am not sure of where they are suppose to have voltage and what is suppose to have grounds. skeffer@midsouth.rr.com

Tan wire?? what do you mean "speed controller"?? if you mean the remote control box.. then that tan wire is very likely to be for your overheat warning.. there is or was a little horn in your controller that hooked up to that wire on one side, and the positive from your ignition switch on the other (only positive when the key is on.).. and when the sensor on your cylinder head got real hot, it becomes a dead short to earth and that, together with the positive from the ignition set the horn off...There is probably a loose grey wire in there also, that would be for hooking to a tacho.I'll see what I can find for you.rgdsfrank

ok, I found a parts breakdown from a 72 100-125HP motor, the wiring should be much the same on yours...here they are... (you will probably have to save the images to your hard drive (right click on image and select "save as" ) and view then as smaller size, I didn't have time to resize them..I will probably take them down tomorrow or the day after as they are probaly copyright and I don't want to get into trouble.good luck.rgdsFrank

Thanks at least now I have some idea of what i am looking at. On my coil and yoke assy when I measure resistance between the two wires (one blue and one black) I get zero ohms, shouldn't there be some resistance? Also when I check between either wire and the high tension lead I get infinityas in a open is this correct.

are you disconnecting one of the wires before you test the coil?? If so, it don't think it should be zero.. (I can go out and measure mine later if it will help.)Also, I think it should be infinate between hight tension and the coil wires.. they are not directly connected.. (a coil is basically a "step up transformer" where two coils are in close proximity to each other, usually around metal.. one coil has few windings, the other has alot.. the result being that power feed into the small coil creates a magnetic field which when picked up by the second larger coil(with the extra windings) is changed back to current at a much higher voltage... a step down transformer is much the same only reversed.)hope that helps, rgdsFrank
