Re: Help me identify my bayliner,82 Cobra ski 18'.6
Call this # ,360-435-5571. This is the # to Bayliner . Have your Hull Identification Number ready, and they will send you an owners manual to your boat...I got mine in the mail last week,...no charge...
"achievment doesn't mind getting it's hands dirty "
I HAVE A 82 bayliner that has fancy stripes and the COBRA lettering on each side of boat in rear.i called a number someone gave me from this website (ty) looking for info on boat they told me that they do not have a owners manual for a 83 1950 and that if they didnot have the one no one will,,and also i looked at bayliner page that has all models and lengths nothing like this boat no 19 foot v8 cobra in 1982 only in 83,,she did send me one .pdf file looked like a flyer that had a 82 cobra v8 and a breif disciption about boat,,ill try and post it, and yet the boat in the flyer does not have the cobra graphics on each side like the 1 i have,,
Owners manuals for boats are garbage..... they give "safe boating tips" and that's about it..... maybe a tiny bit of dribble about your I/O. Forget the owners manual.
Get a manual that covers your motor and outdrive. Those are the critical items.
The last two digits of your Hull Identification Number are the year it was manufactured which should be molded or stamped into the transom visible from the outside on the upper starboard side.
PLEASE do not start new threads relating to the same question ..... I will consolidate your threads
Define rare. Most boats from the 80's aren't. If you get into something from the 50 or 60's, you may have something old enough that not a lot have survived. Especially wooden boats. Most fiberglass stuff from the 80's have survived in enough numbers to not be consider rare. If you're looking for actual production numbers, Bayliner doesn't publish them to my knowledge. Not anywhere I've seen. You could try the Bayliner owners club forum.
I know, old post, could not resist, good memories. There were just under 50 of these boats built, all in 1982; I owned hull numbers 9 and 44. #44 was tan with the red like your photos; #9 was white with blue stripes. #44 was powered with a Volvo Penta 260 with a 280 drive. I put a 450+HP 406 SBC in it and installed a Volvo speedmaster lower unit on the drive (looks like a mini Merc SSM#3). Fast, safe boat; no stress cracks. I did straighten the bottom (took the hook out). #9 was powered with a Merc 470, exactly half as fast as #44.
