    Default transom hardware

In rebuilding my transom (almost done), IÂ’m wondering about hardware items to mount while I can still get to both corners before the top goes on.IÂ’m a newbie, what type of hooks for anchors, and maybe something to pull the grandkids tubbing.Do I want something that goes completely through the transom or just screwed to it?Maybe there are other items I need to think about now than later.Im not up on all the boating verbage so sorry if its not called hooks. maybe eye bolt is better.

You want any hardware that will be pulling anything to go through the transom, and have a good sized backing plate with large washers. I used a pair of bow hooks with large backing plates, I found out they are plenty strong enough when I towed a 21 foot bass boat with them. Also, if you are mounting a kicker bracket, it needs to be through-bolted with backing plates as well.

A kicker bracket is a bracket used for mounting a small gas outboard in adddition to the main motor, primarily used for fishing, trolling, and alternate power in the event of main motor failure. Usually 2-10 hp.

Most boating stores sell all of this hardware. As Jason stated, make sure it goes through the transom. Make sure it's all stainless. Anytime I drill the transom, I coat the screws and or bolts with marine silicone.
