Default Replacement Material for Sound Blanket in Engine Cover

    Hello Everyone,

I really did not know the best place to start with this question so here I am.

I am replacing the sound blankets on the inside of the cowling of my '93 120 Evinrude. The original material was foam about 3/8" thick. Is anyone aware of a better material for this purpose. I would like to knock down the howl as much as I can. The OEM parts run abut $45 plus shipping. I do not mind paying the forty five bucks but I have my doubts as to how well it really works.

Thank you for you help and suggestions.

    Grits

Dynamat, though I'd make sure whatever you put in there isn't going to catch fire easily though.

    Google QL Sound Absorbent Panel.

This is coated with a film that is oil resistant. In addition it is rated to withstand 200 deg C.
