Default minor water damage to rear deck behind seats infront of engine

IMAG0227.jpgIMAG0226.jpgI have minor water damage to rear deck of 1987 Bayliner Capri. Wood is solid no soft spots, just surface warp/flaking of plywood and fiber/epoxy flakes. Stringers are solid and clean.
Plan on sanding down surface, then use wood sealer. Should I lay polyresin and cloth or just paint. I plan on replacing carpet next year. I would rather not tear up because wood is solid.

    I will post pic's tomorrow.

IMAG0231.jpgIMAG0230.jpgIMAG0228.jpgIMAG0229.jpgsanded and treated with JASCO wood sealer. Only had to sand about 1/16 with coarse belt sander to get clean wood. I think AZ heat killed most of the glue thin expoxy with fiber shreads in middle. Glass on edges of wood is rock hard. I will let this cure for 2-3 days, prime , paint (oil base) rustoleum, cure another 2-3 days then re-glue carpet. Yes this is only temporary. Next year plan on re-carpeting entire deck.

So are you asking for advice or just letting us know what you're doing?

I am always looking for suggestions, advice or critiques. Thinking more about it I might only glue the edges of the carpet, because I plan on redoing deck carpet next year. This may make it easier to bring up, less glue/adhesive to scrape up.
