    Default MerCruiser 165 GM 250 I6 need help Timing

    Hello all,Posted this on another forum.Can a kind soul please give me an idea of what the point gap and the timing should be on the GM 250 inline 6? Thanks

    A,I do not have the spec. but it should be very common. I would guess that any auto parts store would have the information and may have a guide that will tell you.My guess would be .020 for the gap and initial timing set of (with advance disabled) 10 degrees BTDC.

    Howdy from Texas, just pulled out the Merc. book for you,,,, Timing sets at 6 degrees advance on the 250, points set at 0.016, and plugs set at .035, good luck, you'll have fun,,, Sting
