Hi all,Having finished my Glen-L Squirt build, I'm looking for a second larger project. Heres what I'm looking for:1)I would want the boat to look cool (obviously!) and handle coastal waters as well as inland lakes and rivers. 2)Around 15/18/20 foot length3)Something with a large cockpit space so I can do a spot of fishing, but also with an option to get in out of the rain and continue driving along without getting soaked.4)Powered by single or twin outboards5)Built in plywood (stitch&glue or cold molded)I've looked at the OVERNIGHTER (link below) designed by Glen-L, I like the looks but I'm not sure how practical a convertible top would be.http://www.glen-l.com/designs/outboard/overniter.htmlIf anyone can think of any names of boat designs that might suit, please shout! Thanks!David
try a search for Bruce Roberts boat designs, Clark craft also check duckboats.net on there boat spec page is links to alot of companys that offer duckboats and larger boats in plans or kits
Check out the power boat designs at: www.boatplans-online.comThey are all designed from the ground up for stitch and glue construction, but their hull bottoms are really a true composite. Stronger than the Glen-L approach. They also have a very active and strong builder community that will bend over backward to support other builders. I have built a Glen-L console skiff. My next boat will be an OP21 from this site.
I've built models of some very cool looking boats using plans I found in old Fawcett Publications "How To Build 20 Boats" type books. There was another one called the "Boat Builder's Handbook" that also had lots of plans in it. They tended to be compilations of plans published in various Popular Mechanics / Popular Science type rags.. Some very classic looking styles to be had...- Scott
