I have a 1983 Bayliner Contessa and recently it has been blowing the ignition fuse. The fuse will not blow until I put it in gear, the boat & fuse are fine if i'm just in idle. What may be the cause? Thank you
You may have a bare wire in the control box that is shorting out when you move the throttle.

Thank you, I will check that tomorrow. Do you think it would have anything to do with the new HEI distrubitor that I recently installed. It did run good for awhile though when I first installed it.
It shouldn't, but double-check the wiring to it, including under the distributor cap.
