    Default 1988 Baretta Success

Does anyone have any information on what model this is. The passenger dash panel has Success written on it. It is a 1988 Baretta 20'7" long with volvo penta duo prop. Any help would be appreciated.

I have done a fair bit of searching and came up very little. This boat is in amazing condition for its age. It was very well maintained by the previous owner. I did find on the Coast Guard tag a model number for the boat. MH-200-RI, however it also does not provide much info on the net.

I had no information about my boat at all.

i have done a fair amount of searching...

baretta's seem not to have much info.. (mostly because
    they are out of business)

I was able to find out information like what year my boat actually is
and what engine options were availble for that year. (incase I decide
to put a larger engine in). (mines a 120hp I/O)

I have heard some scuttle about baretta's having a bad rep due to poor quality construction. everbody I have spoken to seems to say baretta's are no worse than any other boat.. .. personally.. I love my boat and I love the lines.

outside of this forum I have had no luck on baretta boats

jasla74 is re-doing a success... he might be some help

I haven't had much luck finding information myself. I personally don't think they were built that bad, but they're so old now that they're falling apart. Most aren't garage kept or covered and many people treat their boats like Tonka toys. I ran across a Super Sport for sale locally & it was real good shape for it's age.

I was able to get a brochure from another member. PM me your email address and I'll send it over.

Well here is the brochure from 1988. It took me awhile to convert pdf to jpg, but I managed. The original file has better picture quality and you can read it, so let me know if you'd still like me to email it to you (about 4.5mbs).

I can't help you with your steering issue. Might want to post your question in this iboats forum for better help. I'm pretty sure the steering systems are not unique to Baretta boats.

    captmello,

love the lines of that boat.
I dont know about anybody else. but I have yet to
see a baretta that diddnt have stunning lines.

I think they are beautiful boats. there is something subtle about
them that put them above others in my opinion.

    thanks for posting the pic

Own a 1989 18.5 Success with Valvo-Penta AQ131D and 275 Stern Drive - anybody any quesitons from me please go right ahead.

Please send any and all pictures or documents anybody has please to rvktlll!@yahoo.com, Have owned boat since 97.

Have just re-installed the Transom Mount, Engine and Stern Drive, that order and in water yesterday for the first time since last fall- had to yank the engine and all to have a guy put a new transom in it - old one was rotten due to my negligance with the boat sitting in water on dry land... New rubber all around and bellows - in water leaked a little on new bolts, wondering how tight I can make those transom bolds so as to seat the little rubber seals around bolt, might tighten some more and then just a little silicon on inside of boat.

Yesterday the Remote Contoller/Shifter got stuck in drive(type shifter pull out to use neuteral but stuck pulled out while in gear - after using boat a while, happened end of last year peeriodically too - not the cables, they are in good shape and work fine - so took out the shifter - just a few bolts and slide out from behind pannel, only model marks "c 7 c" anybody know the manufacture on that shifter? I will be tearming that apart this evening to find where and why its stuck - should just need a good cleaning and reasembly hope not a new shifter they run about $300. Tach is stuck at 1000k when off so need to figure that out(dial on back will check) after these are all fixed will be ready for Table Rock again this year - this boat interior has rotten spots too, have replaced some wood on seats and such, floor is fine, need to replace wood on engine shroud too before table rock - love the boat. Also putting an elctronic egnition kit on it once I buy the timming light - no delays on EI so have to adjust timing after in stall for ? 4500 RPM...

To all you Baretta fans. I have the brochure for the entire 1988 Baretta line-up. I can't put it on here since it is 20 pages and the file is too large. I scanned it in color and saved into PDF format. You can read each page very clearly. If you would like to see it, just let me know and I will send it to you. We have a 1988 Baretta 200 Success CC. Enjoy! John and Donna
