  • Wakeboarding in the Olympics

Wednesday, December 19th 2012, The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) presented their case to the IOC Programme Commission. The IWWF is attempting to have Wakeboarding included in the 2020 Olympic Games. Coincidently the presentation lasted 20 minutes and 20 seconds. Some may take this as a sign of good things to come. The sport itself is reaching a new level of popularity amongst the youth and is becoming easier and easier to learn. They will be announcing the new sports added September 2013.

Most would agree the best wakeboarding moments are experienced when being towed by a boat. Now with new technology, machines do all the towing. This may take away from the "boating" experience, but it will help you learn the sport and become a pro on the water! I have to say, adding this sport to the Olympics would be awesome. I enjoy it, and it would attract a bigger audience. However, if we are going to add wakeboarding then why not other extreme sports? They all require a high level of skill and practice.
If they add wakeboarding, then why not water skiing? What do you think they would rate you on? How high your air was, how big the trick was?

Tell us what you think about adding wakeboarding to the 2020 games. Are there any sports you would like to see in the next Olympics?
